Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2464 -- Child Support Payments

Sponsor: Oxford

This bill raises the age of a child at which the parent's
obligation to pay child support terminates from 21 years of age
to 22 years of age. The provisions terminating child support
when a child older than 18 years of age receives failing grades
in half or more of his or her courseload in any one semester are
repealed. A one-time, five-month period of abatement of child
support may be granted if a child completes at least six but less
than 12 college credit hours and has pursued a path of continuous
attendance and demonstrated evidence of a plan to continue to do
so.
