HB 2488 -- Eyewitness Identification Sponsor: Talboy This bill requires any criminal justice entity that conducts eyewitness identification procedures to adopt, by January 1, 2009, written policies for using an eyewitness to identify a suspect upon viewing the suspect in person in a live lineup or showup or viewing a representation of the suspect in a photo lineup. A copy of the policies must be provided to the Director of the Department of Public Safety by February 1, 2009, for biennial review by a law enforcement agency. The department director must create, administer, and conduct training programs for law enforcement officers and recruits on the methods and technical aspects of eyewitness identification practices and procedures; and every law enforcement agency must consider practices to enhance the objectivity and reliability of eyewitness identifications and to minimize the possibility of mistaken identifications.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
