HB 1937 -- TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS (Pearce) COMMITTEE OF ORIGIN: Committee on Transportation Currently, if two or more counties want to establish a joint transportation development district for a project that lies in whole or in part within two or more counties, the governing body of one of the authorities may file a petition in the circuit court of a county in which the development district is located. This bill allows a petition to be filed in a circuit court of any of the counties in which the project will be located. The petition must be signed by at least 50 registered voters from each of the counties and must state the name, voting residence, and county of residence of each individual petitioner. The district and proposed funding will be subject to voter approval under one election.
