AN ACT
To amend chapter 568, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to impersonating a minor, with a penalty provision.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 568, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 568.075, to read as follows:
568.075. 1. A person commits the crime of impersonating a minor or someone else if, except as provided for in subsection 2 of this section, such person is an adult and knowingly pretends to be a minor or someone else other than who they really are for the purpose of communicating with a minor over the Internet or any other telecommunications or electronic device.
2. The provisions of subsection 1 of this section shall not apply to any on-duty local, state, or federal law enforcement officer engaged in investigating a crime or to any person or volunteer working with such law enforcement officer in the investigation.
3. As used in this section the following terms shall mean:
(1) "Adult", any person over eighteen years of age;
(2) "Minor", any child eighteen years of age or younger.
4. Impersonating a minor or someone else is a class A misdemeanor.
