AN ACT

To amend chapter 577, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to reporting of certain persons not legally present in the United States.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 577, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 577.755, to read as follows:

            577.755. Any person who appears in a court in this state as a result of an arrest or traffic citation shall have in his or her possession, and demonstrate to the prosecuting attorney or circuit attorney upon request of the court, proof of citizenship or legal presence in the United States. Such proof shall include, but not be limited to, a driver's license, nondriver's license, work permit, visa, or greencard. The prosecuting attorney or circuit attorney shall report any person who is unable to produce proof of citizenship or legal presence in the United States to the appropriate federal authorities.
