AN ACT

To amend chapter 191, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to unauthorized disclosure of medical information.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

            Section A. Chapter 191, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 191.275, to read as follows:

            191.275. Any health care provider in this state who discovers or otherwise learns that confidential medical information regarding a patient has been improperly shared with a third party shall, within five business days of such discovery, notify the patient in writing by first-class mail or certified mail, return receipt requested, that an unauthorized disclosure of the patient's confidential medical information to a third party has occurred.
