      Whereas, traffic signals play a key role in intersection safety and minimize the potential of road user confusion at intersections; and

            Whereas, in determining whether a traffic control signal is warranted at an intersection, vehicular and pedestrian volumes, and crash history, including a record of severe crashes, must be considered; and

            Whereas, a comprehensive engineering study should be done to indicate whether the installation of a traffic signal would improve the overall safety and operation of an intersection; and

            Whereas, recent requests of the Department of Transportation regarding the possible placement of a traffic control signal at a busy intersection in Weldon Spring, Missouri, have remained unresolved. To assure the safety of all drivers and pedestrians at and near the intersection of Independence Road and State Highway 94 in Weldon Spring, Missouri, the Department should immediately undertake a comprehensive engineering study of the intersection and respond to the repeated requests for improved traffic signaling at that intersection:

            Now, therefore, be it resolved that the members of the House of Representatives of the Ninety-fifth General Assembly, First Regular Session, the Senate concurring therein, hereby strongly urge the Department of Transportation to conduct a comprehensive engineering study regarding the placement of a traffic control signal exhibiting different colored lights at the intersection of Independence Road and State Highway 94 in the City of Weldon Spring, St. Charles County, Missouri; and

            Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution for Pete Rahn, the Director of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
