AN ACT

To amend chapter 160, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to law enforcement officers on school premises.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 160, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 160.668, to read as follows:

160.668. 1. The school board of any school district in this state may elect to provide to a licensed law enforcement officer or peace officer, who is certified under chapter 590 and an employee of a local law enforcement agency, a work station to use during normal school hours at any campus or in any facility under the control of the board. The school board must implement the provisions of this section with the coordination of the campus’s or facility’s school administration and the local law enforcement agencies by which the officer is employed.

            2. Any school district electing to provide to a law enforcement or peace officer a work station must provide internet access to the officer to complete office work required by his or her normal employment activities. The law enforcement or peace officer shall not be required to keep specific or scheduled hours and shall not receive any compensation from the school district in which he or she is stationed.

            3. The school administration may ask the officer to leave the school premises for any reason at any time.

            4. For the purposes of this section, “school administration” means the superintendent of the school district and the principal and vice principals of the facility or campus at which the officer will be stationed.
