REP. MAURICE LAWSON

92nd General Assembly

 

Rep. Maurice Lawson, a Democrat, represents parts of Buchanan and Platte counties (District 29) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

 

Rep. Lawson was elected to his first two-year term in 1996.

 

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Lawson is a member of Kirschner Community Church, South Side Progressive Club, South Side Lions Club, South Side Fall Festival Committee, and the American Legion. He was selected in 1995, as Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of St. Joseph for his work in the juvenile mentoring program.

 

Prior to his election to the House, he served as a Buchanan County deputy sheriff and in the Marine Corps. He has spent the majority of his life farming and in agri-business at the St. Joseph Stockyards as well as in the small business sector.

 

He attended Benton High School and St. Joseph Junior College.He also attended aviation school for a two-year course on instrument, commercial and multi-engine ratings.Rep. Lawson holds a private pilotís license with a multi-engine rating.

 

Born April 30, 1938 in St. Joseph, Rep. Lawson currently resides there with his wife, Bonnie Sue.
