HB 2084 -- Assistant Attorneys General

Co-Sponsors: Holand, Hanaway

This bill prohibits the Attorney General from employing, in a
civil case in which the amount in controversy exceeds $150,000,
any assistant attorney general on a contingency fee basis unless
the contingent fee arrangement is approved by the Joint
Committee on Administrative Rules. State agencies are also
prohibited from contracting for legal services through a
contingent fee arrangement unless the Attorney General assigns
to the agency an assistant attorney general after following the
bill's procedures for contingent fee arrangements.
