Rep. Francis Overschmidt's Bio


Rep. Overschmidt, a Democrat, represents parts of Franklin, Washington and Crawford counties (District 110) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Elected to his third consecutive two-year term in 1994, Rep. Overschmidt is chairman of the House Tourism, Recreational and Cultural Affairs. He also serves on the following House committees: Agriculture; Governmental Organization and Review; Local Government; and Mines and Mining.

Francis Overschmidt was born February 1, 1943. He attended St. Clare Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School.

Francis married Dianne Zumwalt in 1965 and they have three children: Lisa, Kim and Charlie. He lives in Union where he is a farmer and a small businessman. He served in the Missouri National Guard from 1963-69.

In 1988, Francis was elected Franklin County Commissioner and served until November 1991. During this tenure he was a member of the Franklin County Extension Council and the Emergency Numbering System.

Francis is a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Union Rotary Club, St. Clair Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, St. Clair Knights of Columbus and American Legion. In 1987, he received the Missouri State Fair Farm Family Award.
