This bill requires fertilizer which is formulated according to specifications furnished by or for a
consumer prior to mixing to be labeled to indicate net weight, the guaranteed analysis or
guaranteed analysis and net weight of each material used in formulation or both, and the name
and address of the distributor and the consumer.
HCA 1 -- Defines "variable rate technology" as the method of applying 2 or more fertilizer
materials which are blended at variable rates by a spreading vehicle or device during the
application process and provides for proper labeling of such blended fertilizer materials.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is necessary to provide content guarantees for the
variable rate technology fertilizer application process.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Johnson; Missouri Department of Agriculture; and Missouri
Agriculture Industry Council.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
