Rep. Judy Morgan, a Democrat, represents part of Jackson County (District 24) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was first elected in a special election in November 2011.
In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Morgan is a retired school teacher and counselor. She has worked in the Kansas City Public School District at Northeast High School, Central High School and Lincoln College Prep for twenty-nine years. She served as President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT ) from 1999-2009 representing and serving its membership.
Rep. Morgan is a member of the following organizations: American Federation of Teachers; Legislative Chair of the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus; Development Officer of the Missouri Association of Social Welfare; and KKFI Community Radio Board.
Rep. Morgan is a 1966 graduate of Bishop Hogan High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Born January 11, 1948 in Kansas City, Rep. Morgan currently resides in Kansas City with her husband Gene Morgan. She has one daughter Courtney Morgan Baker, and son-in-law, Roby.
Requires members of the General Assembly to report whether proposed legislation is model legislation and requires disclosure of additional lobbying activities
Allows a breast-feeding mother to be excused from jury duty
Repeals a provision allowing scrap metal operators to purchase older inoperable motor vehicles or vehicle parts without receiving a title
Requires children in the City of St. Louis and Kansas City school districts to enroll in a school by the age of five
Establishes the Missouri Tuition Equity Act
Changes the laws regarding bullying in schools
Changes the laws regarding the Missouri individual income tax
Establishes the 2014 Safe Patient Handling and Movement Act
Establishes Missouri's ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment to the United States Constitution
