HB 1657 -- Internet Access at Public Libraries
Sponsor: Hanaway
This bill requires all public libraries offering Internet access
to patrons to adopt a written policy identifying Internet sites
or types of sites that may not be accessed by patrons using the
library's Internet software. These libraries are also required
to install and maintain filtering software on library computers
to block those sites identified in the written policy. Upon
request, adult patrons are to be provided access to these
filtered Internet sites in a location where the information is
not readily accessed by a minor. All libraries receiving public
funds must comply with the bill's provisions.
