HB 1723 -- Chiropractors

This bill contains provisions regarding the practice of
chiropractic.

The definition of the "practice of chiropractic" is revised,
stating that chiropractic treatment recognizes the innate
recuperative powers of the human body.  The practice of
chiropractic treatment must be directed toward restoring and
maintaining the normal health and function of the body through
adjustment, manipulation, treatment, management, and prevention
of malpositioned articulations and structures of the body and
the vertebral subluxation complex.  The practice of chiropractic
does not include the practice of medicine, and chiropractors may
not administer or prescribe any controlled substances or legend
or other restricted drugs.

The bill also allows chiropractors to practice in the methods
generally accepted within the health care community taught by
accredited chiropractic colleges and taught in postgraduate
study and course work approved by the State Board of
Chiropractic.
