INTRODUCED
HB 2027 -- Brain Injury Study
Co-Sponsors: Patek, Enz, Shields
This bill requires the Department of Mental Health (the lead
agency) and the Department of Health to conduct a study on
expanding services provided to brain-injured persons and to
streamline the process for accessing such services.
Goals of the study include allowing brain-injured persons the
option of utilizing the services of either department for a 5--
year period; expanding the definition of "brain injury" to
include acquired brain injury and to create a one-stop shop by
implementing an inter-departmental referral system.
The departments are required to submit a report to the General
Assembly on the feasibility of the goals and a plan to implement
the goals by January 1, 2002.
