Rep. Rocky Miller, a Republican, represents parts of Camden and Miller Counties (Lake of the Ozarks Region) (District 124) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2012.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Miller is a professional engineer and land surveyor and owner of Miller Companies, an engineering, environmental services and land surveying firm.
Rep. Miller is involved with organizations such as the Academy of Civil Engineers, the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors, Chamber of Commerce and Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference. He is a former president of the School of the Osage School Board and former Director of the Missouri School Board Association and is a member of Farm Bureau and the NRA.
Rep. Miller is a 1984 graduate of School of the Osage, Lake Ozark. He graduated from Missouri S & T in 1988 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and acquired an MBA from St. Ambrose University. He began his career with Laclede Gas and Iowa Southern Utilities before returning home to found Miller Companies.
Rep. Miller was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is married to Della (Taylor) Miller. They have four children, Clay, Jordon, Michael and Jared and six grandchildren. Rep. Miller, a sixth generation resident of the district, resides in Osage Beach.
Changes the laws regarding consent for a minor to obtain an abortion
Changes the laws regarding the selling of authentic American Indian arts or crafts
Modifies provisions relating to ratemaking for public utilities
Changes the laws regarding port authorities procuring professional services
Requires the nonprevailing party in a civil suit to pay court costs and attorney's fees of the prevailing party
Requires board members of public water supply districts to complete training in each elected or appointed term
Modifies certain definitions for sales and use tax exemptions and abrogates the findings in IBM Corporation v. Director of Revenue 491 S.W.3d 535 (Mo. banc 2016)
Changes the law relating to rate making for gas corporations
Exempts certain projects from the Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act annual appropriation cap
Prohibits private nuisance actions from being brought when the property owner has a related government issued permit
