Rep. Travis Fitzwater, a Republican, represents parts of Callaway and Cole Counties (District 49) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2014.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Fitzwater has worked in non-profit management as a marketing coordinator and chief operating officer. He’s also started a business, Fitzwater Enterprises, LLC, and worked on staff with a campus ministry teaching students about leadership and faith principles.
Rep. Fitzwater is a board member at the Jefferson City Church of the Nazarene and Chairman of Jefferson City Young Life. He is a member of the Fulton Area Chamber of Commerce, National Rifle Association, Americans for Prosperity, Missouri Society of Association Executives, Missouri Governor’s Student Leadership Forum, Callaway County Young Professionals and Jefferson City Young Republicans. He also is a former member of the Holts Summit Fire Protection District Board.
Rep. Fitzwater earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a focus on International Relations, from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.
Rep. Fitzwater was born in Cleveland, OH. He currently resides in Holts Summit with his wife Amy. They have two daughters, Sadie & Eliza.
Prohibits the MO HealthNet Division from discriminating between a licensed marital therapist and family therapist and a licensed professional counselor when establishing rules for payment of services
Allows certain cities, towns, or villages to consolidate when they have entered into one or more intergovernmental agreements related to municipal services, are separated by a distance of not more than one mile, and are connected by at least two publicly maintained right of ways.
Allows the presiding judge of certain circuits to appoint a circuit court marshal
Authorizes financial institutions to offer savings promotion plans
Requires the Oversight Division of the Joint Committee on Legislative Research to perform an actuarial analysis on the provision of marital and family therapy services to MO HealthNet participants
Establishes the "Higher Education Core Curriculum Transfer Act".
Establishes a pilot program to be known as the “STEM Career Awareness Pilot Program”.
Creates the 47th Judicial Circuit consisting of Callaway and Audrain counties
Modifies provisions of law relating to funding for the public service commission and the office of public counsel
Establishes the Deaf Child's Bill of Rights
Urges the federal government to establish and develop a site for the permanent siting and development of a federal nuclear waste repository
