Rep. Alan K. Green, a Democrat, represents parts of Saint Louis County (District 67) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected in a special election in August 2014.
In addition to his service as a legislator, Rep. Green is the CEO for Green & Associates LLC, which specializes in Surety Bonds, Payment Bonds, Finance, Government and Business Consulting.
Rep. Green also served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Missouri Department of Social Services and as the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity for the Office of Administration. He has reviewed the Community Service Block Grant proposals for the City of St. Louis and has worked for two St. Louis County Executives. He has taught courses at St. Louis Community College as an Adjunct Professor, and currently serves on the Small Business Regulatory Fairness Board.
Rep. Green has also worked for Lutheran Family and Children Services as a Director and has served as a St. Louis police officer. His work has been recognized by the White House, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, HBO and many other awards.
Rep. Green attended Ecorse High School in Ecorse, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice and American Diplomacy. He has a Master’s in Management and Development of Human Resources from National Louis University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Lindenwood University. He received his PH.D in Religious Education from the United Theological Seminary Survine Bible College of St. Louis. He received his certification of executive leadership from the University of Virginia.
Born September 9, 1960, Rep. Green currently resides in Florissant, MO where he has been a resident in North County for 32 years. He is the proud father of four children, Tiffany, Alan Jr., Garrett, and Trevor.
Changes the laws regarding tax increment financing districts
Changes the laws regarding purchases to be made on competitive bids.
Establishes the Missouri Prompt Pay Act relating to payment dates for contractors and subcontractors
Establishes the Bonding Review Board to determine whether sufficient financial assets exist to back individual sureties and to rate providers of individual sureties
Requires gas corporations to repair pipelines and equipment necessary for a customer to benefit from the service even if the customer is not up to date with payments
Modifies provisions of law relating to the REAL ID Act of 2005
Establishes the Missouri Minority Business Enterprise Loan Program
Changes the laws regarding notice requirements for when a patient is admitted to a mental health facility
Requires the Commissioner of Administration to procure a blanket bond or crime insurance policy to protect the state against loss from the acts or omissions of any state-compensated person within the judiciary
Creates a tort cause of action for injuries that result from harassment in the workplace
Establishes the Missouri office of equal opportunity in statute
Requires the Office of Administration to commission a study on socially and economically disadvantaged businesses every five years
Establishes the First-Time Business Owner Savings Account Act and authorizes a tax deduction for contributions to a savings account dedicated to starting a new business
Establishes the Missouri Juneteenth Heritage and Jazz Festival and Memorial Fund
Establishes programs in the Department of Economic Development to assist minority business enterprises
Establishes the "Extreme Risk Protection Order Act"
Prohibits the sale of an assault weapon to a person under the age of twenty-one
Requires the department of public safety to commission a study on gun violence in the state of Missouri
